However, Steve Jobs has his own different definition of the meaning of the word intelligent. That definition is also what makes Steve Jobs a modern-day genius who managed to build the most valuable company in history. So, what is the definition of intelligent according to Steve Jobs and how can we apply it. Let's see, the characteristics of intelligent people according to Steve Jobs in this article.

In an interview, Steve expressed his views on the characteristics of intelligent people. What's interesting is that not a single one of him mentions "out of the box" thinking ability or extraordinary dedication. But, he said; intelligent people have the ability to "zoom out", it's like being in a city and you can see everything, because you are standing on an 80-storey building located in the middle of the city. And, while others are trying to get from point A to point B by reading the small map in their hand. You can already see the path clearly and completely in front of you, because you can see everything.

Therefore, according to Steve, intelligent people are able to make connections that seem obvious to them, but seem confusing to others. Why? because they had developed the zoom out skill earlier. Thus, they get a better view of the big picture. Of course, the viewpoint is good and we all agree that to change the world we need to see clearly and completely the world we want to change. But how to do it? How did you come to be the person Steve thought of as intelligent?

Evident, the answer is closely related to having a unique life experience. Says Steve "If you have the same set of experiences as everyone else, then you're likely to make the same connections as everyone else, so you're not going to be innovative." Perhaps, you need to go to Paris and be a poet there, for a few years or you may go to a third world country. I highly recommend it, said Steve. Logic too huh!.

A 2015 study by Christiane Nieb and Hannes Zacher concluded that openness to experience is the best predictor of a person's high performance when in work situations that require creativity. The study also found that wider social interactions would be helpful.

That matter, in accordance with the statement that Jobs often said, that people who are open to new experiences and social interactions will look for the most interesting and non-standard situations in their lives. And as a result, they gain an invaluable wealth of perspective.

And it also helps explain why so many successful entrepreneurs are avid readers, such as Ellon Musk, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos. They are true readers of books. And books are the easiest way for an introvert to gather the unique insights that shape their own worldview. Through those books, they expand their mental Firmament.

It is very logical, if someone reads 100 classic business books then finally he can see the movement of the trend, so that he is able to seize opportunities before anyone else. Of course, books need to be complemented by diverse experiences. We can learn a lot from the experience of making friends with people who have different backgrounds from ours, and also from unusual situations or environments.

During college, Steve Jobs traveled to India to study the genes and Eastern philosophy which later influenced the design of all Apple products to this day. Steve once said "creativity is just connecting things". What distinguishes Steve Jobs from most people is that he has a very large number of "things" in various forms. Reasonable, when he connects the "things" then the result is a masterpiece of innovation that changes the world.

In conclusion; If you want to be a smart person like Steve Jobs meant, then multiply out of your social group. Meet and Reach out to people who are different from you. Listen and understand their point of view. Expand your experience of new things that are not the same. See the world around you as a whole, don't get stuck in one narrow point of view. Then, creatively connect that intelligence and experience. And produce masterpieces of innovation that can change your life and those around you for the better. Good luck.
